Chapter 3 - THE FABRICATED MEDICAL RECORD

Evelyn stared at the paper in disbelief.
Why would someone warn her about Victoria when Victoria was the only one who stood up for her?
She crumpled the note and stuffed it inside her pocket.
She needed to find a way out of this room before Julian wiped all evidence of her existence.
She walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the courtyard.
The rain was beginning to pour outside, matching the gloom in her heart.
She noticed the window latch was slightly loose.
Using the metal tip of her hairpin, she pried at the rusted lock.
After minutes of intense effort, the lock snapped open.
She pushed the window open, feeling the cold rain hit her face.
Suddenly, the door handle rattled behind her.
Evelyn spun around, her heart hammering against her ribs.
The door swung open, and Doctor Vance walked into the room carrying a syringe.
"It's time for your sedative, Mrs. Sterling," the doctor said with a cold, hollow smile.
"Get away from me!" Evelyn yelled, backing toward the open window.

"Your husband wants you calm for the police evaluation," Doctor Vance said, stepping closer.
"You forged my psychiatric records!" Evelyn yelled, her voice trembling with rage.
