Chapter 5 - The Price of Treason
Elena stared at the silver flash drive in Arthur's hand.
"What do you mean it will cost me everything?" Elena demanded.
Arthur unlocked the car door, gesturing for her to enter.
"Victoria isn't taking your daughter just to hurt you," Arthur explained.
Elena slipped into the leather seat, closing the door softly.
"Then why is she doing this?" Elena asked, her voice trembling.
"The girl inherits the entire family trust fund on her sixth birthday," Arthur stated.
"Victoria lost all her money in illegal overseas investments last month."
Elena felt a surge of rage burning through her veins.
"She is using my child as a financial shield?!" Elena yelled.
Arthur put his finger to his lips, urging her to lower her voice.
"If Victoria controls the child, she controls three hundred million dollars," Arthur whispered.
"And tomorrow morning, she is taking her out of the country forever."
Elena gripped the edge of the seat tightly.
"Where are they taking her tonight?" Elena asked urgently.
Arthur looked at his watch with a cold, calculating glare.

"And if we don't act tonight, you will never see her again."
