Chapter 11 - The Harbor Trap

The car arrived at the dark, desolate harbor district.

Massive shipping containers were stacked like giant colorful blocks in the rain.

The sound of waves crashing against the wooden piers was deafening.

Sarah parked the car behind a rusty metal dumpster.

"The warehouse at the end of Pier 4 is where they hold her," Sarah whispered.

Elena stepped out into the rain, ignoring the sharp pain in her ankle.

She wrapped her wet coat tightly around her trembling upper body.

They sneaked past two armed guards patrolling the outer fence.

Sarah pulled out a pair of wire cutters and snipped through the chain link.

They squeezed through the narrow gap and slipped into the shadows.

The massive warehouse door was slightly open, emitting a pale yellow light.

Elena slowly peeked through the narrow opening into the interior.

Inside, a small girl was tied to a wooden chair in the center of the room.

Her tiny shoulders were shaking as she wept softly in the dark.

Elena’s heart slammed against her ribs with overwhelming rage and love.

"Hold on, sweetie, Mommy is here," Elena whispered under her breath.

She was about to rush inside when Sarah suddenly grabbed her arm tightly.

"Stop! Look up at the rafters," Sarah warned in a hushed whisper.
