Chapter 4 - An Unholy Alliance
Elena sprinted through the hallway toward the service stairs.
Her heels clicked loudly against the empty concrete corridor.
She slammed the heavy metal door open into the dimly lit parking garage.
The smell of gasoline and damp concrete filled the chilly air.
A sleek black sedan was idling quietly in the shadowy corner.
The rear window rolled down slowly as Elena approached.
A man sitting inside pulled down his dark sunglasses.
It was Arthur, Victoria’s estranged eldest son.
"Get in before my mother's men find you," Arthur said sternly.
Elena stopped in her tracks, her fists clenching tightly.
"Why should I trust anyone from your toxic family?" Elena spat out.
Arthur held up a small silver flash drive between his fingers.
"Because I have the original lab report that Victoria destroyed," Arthur said.
Elena gasped, taking a hesitant step closer to the vehicle.
"Why are you helping me?" Elena asked, filled with deep suspicion.
Arthur leaned forward, his face partially illuminated by the dashboard light.

"Because Victoria destroyed my life too, and I want her ruined," he replied cold-bloodedly.
"But getting your daughter back will cost you everything you have."
