Chapter 2 - The Trap Set in Gold

Elena felt her heart drop into a dark, bottomless pit.

The little girl buried her crying face deeper into Elena's shirt.

"That's impossible! The judge hasn't even reviewed the case!" Elena gasped.

Victoria stood up completely, wiping dust off her elegant lace dress.

She adjusted her pearl necklace with an unsettlingly calm composure.

"Money can move mountains in this city, my dear," Victoria murmured with a sneer.

The security guards stepped forward, surrounding Elena and the girl.

"Please do not make a scene, ma'am," the head guard warned coldly.

"She is my blood! She is my daughter!" Elena screamed, her voice cracking.

The attorney handed a copy of the legal papers toward the crowd.

"The blood test submitted this morning proves otherwise," the attorney stated loudly.

The onlookers gasped in collective shock.

Elena's eyes widened in sheer disbelief.

"You forged it! You tampered with the lab!" Elena yelled hysterically.

Victoria smiled triumphantly as she held out her open arms.

"Come to grandmother, sweetie," Victoria called out with fake tenderness.

The little girl shook her head violently, screaming in horror.

One guard forcefully pulled Elena's hands away from the child.

Elena fought back with every ounce of strength left in her body.

"You will never see her again, and you will never prove what I did."
