Chapter 8 - A Web of Lies
Julian held his hands up, tears welling in his eyes.
"You don't understand, Gabriel!" Julian cried out.
"I didn't do this to kill her!"
"They threatened me!"
"Who threatened you?" Gabriel demanded, stepping closer.
"The Russian Syndicate!" Julian confessed.
"They have my wife and my son!"
"They said if I didn't help them fake Mia’s death, they would kill my entire family!"
Gabriel raised the gun directly at Julian’s forehead.
"You sacrificed my daughter to save yours?" Gabriel roared.
"She wasn't going to die!" Julian sobbed.
"The toxin wears off!"
"They were going to wake her up after the funeral!"
"They just needed you broken, Gabriel!"
"A broken boss loses control of the streets!"
Suddenly, the glass windows of the penthouse shattered simultaneously.
Flashbang grenades bounced across the hardwood floor.
Blinding light and deafening noise filled the room.
Gabriel dropped to the floor, rolling behind a leather couch.
Heavy tactical boots landed inside the penthouse.
