Chapter 15 - The Vault of Secrets
Gabriel marched down the stairs toward the sub-basement vault.
Viktor and Julian were zip-tied together, forced to march at gunpoint ahead of him.
Bruno sniffed the heavy steel door of the vault.
The dog began scratching furiously at the reinforced steel.
"Open it, Viktor," Gabriel commanded, pressing his gun to Viktor's neck.
Viktor spat blood onto the floor.
"If I open it, the silent alarm triggers," Viktor sneered.
"The whole Syndicate army will be here in five minutes."
"Open it," Gabriel repeated.
Viktor typed a six-digit code into the keyless entry lock.
The heavy steel door unlatched with a loud pneumatic hiss.
Inside sat a terrified nine-year-old boy, hugging his knees in the corner.
It was Leo, Julian’s son.
"Daddy!" the boy cried out, running toward Julian.
Julian collapsed into tears, reaching out his bound hands.
"Leo!" Julian sobbed.
Gabriel watched the boy hug his father.
Even after everything, Gabriel couldn't let a child suffer for his father's sins.
Suddenly, loud sirens began blaring throughout the underground complex.
Red emergency lights flashed violently.

"They're here," Viktor laughed maniacally, despite his bleeding hands.
"You will never leave this building alive, Gabriel!"
