Chapter 16 - The Siege
Tires screeched outside the warehouse above.
Heavy footsteps echoed down the concrete staircase.
Dozens of Syndicate mercenaries were pouring into the building.
"Get behind me!" Gabriel yelled, shoving Julian and Leo into the vault.
Gabriel slammed the outer steel handle shut, locking the boy and Julian inside safely.
"Gabriel! Don't leave us!" Julian screamed from behind the thick steel door.
"You're safe in there," Gabriel said into the vault speaker.
"I'm finishing this."
Gabriel turned to face the staircase.
Viktor was lying on the ground, grinning wickedly.
"You can't beat an army, Gabriel Vance," Viktor mocked.
Bruno stepped in front of Gabriel, lowering his head, ready to fight to the death.
"He's right, Bruno," Gabriel said under his breath.
"We can't fight them head-on."
Gabriel pulled a small remote detonator from his tactical vest.
It was linked to the charges he had set on the support pillars earlier.
