Chapter 16 - The Framed Fugitives
By 2:00 AM, every local television news broadcast broke away from regular programming with emergency alerts.
Leo’s face and Maya’s face were plastered across the screen.
"Breaking News: High school students Leo Vance and Maya Lin are wanted in connection with an arson attack and grand theft," the news anchor announced.
"They are considered armed and dangerous," the voice continued.
Sitting inside an abandoned garage five blocks away, Leo and Maya watched the news broadcast on a small portable television.
"They twisted everything!" Leo slammed his fist against the dusty workbench. "They made us look like criminals!"
"That’s how Marcus’s family works," Maya said softly, wrapping a dry blanket around her shoulders. "They own the media, they own the police, and they own the school."
"Then we take this straight to the public ourselves," Leo said, his eyes filled with fierce determination.

"We open Julian’s journal," Leo replied. "There must be an encryption key in here."
