Chapter 19 - THE SHADOW CLINIC

The digital clock on the dashboard read 11:25 PM.

Thirty-five minutes before midnight.

Eleanor drove the guard’s stolen SUV through the heavy rain, Leo holding tightly to the seatbelt beside her.

She pulled up outside St. Jude’s Private Care Facility on the outskirts of the city.

The dark, imposing building looked more like a prison than a hospital.

Eleanor left Leo safely locked inside the running vehicle.

"If I am not back in fifteen minutes, lock the doors and call the fire department," Eleanor instructed him firmly.

She sprinted through the automatic glass doors of the silent clinic lobby.

The reception desk was empty, but footprints of wet mud led down the hallway.

She followed the dark corridor toward the intensive care unit.

Inside Room 104, Richard Sterling stood over Arthur’s bed.

A clear liquid was slowly dripping from an IV bag into the boy’s arm.

Arthur was pale, his eyes half-closed, struggling to breathe.

Victoria stood by the window, watching the clock on her phone.

"It's 11:45 PM," Victoria whispered with a smirk.

"Just fifteen more minutes, and it's all over."
