Chapter 13 - THE HARBOR TRAP

Eleanor didn't hesitate for a single second.

As Officer Miller hit the ground, she dove behind a massive steel cargo container.

BANG! BANG!

Two bullets ricocheted off the heavy metal, sparking bright in the dark warehouse.

Eleanor scrambled beneath the undercarriage of a abandoned train car.

Her hands swept through the mud, grabbing a heavy rusted wrench.

She hurled it with all her strength toward a stack of wooden crates nearby.

The crates crashed down with a deafening thud, distracting Vance for a split second.

"Over there!" Vance barked, turning his weapon toward the noise.

Eleanor crawled out from under the train car and sprinted through the emergency exit into the dark night.

She ran until her lungs burned like fire, refusing to let the tears in her eyes blind her.

Victoria’s words echoed relentlessly in her head: A warehouse by the harbor.

She knew the city's shipping district was vast, but there was only one warehouse owned by Sterling Logistics.

Pier 42.

She had to get there before Vance and Victoria realized where she was heading.

She flagged down a passing yellow taxi on the main road.

She shoved a crumpled twenty-dollar bill into the driver’s hand.

"Pier 42, fast!" Eleanor demanded, her voice shaking with adrenaline.
