Chapter 15 - A MOTHER'S LEGACY
Standing on the raised platform beside Leo was Richard Sterling.
Beside him stood two muscular armed guards with heavy rifles.
"I knew you'd come straight here, Eleanor," Richard said, stepping toward the railing.
"You really are predictable."
"Let him go, Richard!" Eleanor shouted, stepping into the center of the floor.
"You have the evidence destroyed! You have the police in your pocket! Leave my family out of this!"
Richard chuckled darkly, resting his hands on the railing.
"You see, Eleanor, you still don't understand the full picture," Richard said smoothly.
"You think this was just about Arthur's inheritance?"
"It was never just about the money."
Richard pulled a thin silver key from his coat pocket and held it up.
"Arthur’s biological mother didn't just leave him money," Richard revealed.
"She left him a safe deposit box containing proof that I stole my entire company from her family."
"If Arthur reached seven years old, the trust lawyers would open that box."
"My entire empire would fall apart."
Eleanor’s eyes widened as the realization hit her like a physical blow.
