Chapter 3 - The Sealed Envelope
Victoria reached into her desk drawer.
She pulled out a thick, black leather envelope.
She placed it carefully on the polished desk surface.
"Do you know what is inside this, Evelyn?" Victoria asked.
Evelyn remained silent, staring at the mysterious packet.
"It contains the truth about your husband’s death," Victoria whispered.
Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat.
Her mind raced back to five years ago.
The mysterious car accident that took her husband away.
"You lied to me back then," Evelyn said, her voice dropping an octave.
"I protected you," Victoria corrected smoothly.
"Or did you protect yourself?" Evelyn challenged.
Victoria stood up slowly, leaning over the desk.
"If you fight me, this document goes straight to the police," Victoria threatened.
"What did you do?" Evelyn demanded.

"You will follow my rules, or you will lose Lily forever," Victoria declared.
