Chapter 13 - The Secret Drive
Evelyn picked up the cold silver ring.
Her fingers trembled violently as she held it.
"He was here," she whispered.
"Recently," Jax added, looking at the dustless shelf.
Evelyn grabbed the flash drive and stuffed it into her pocket.
Sirens began echoing through the upper halls of the estate.
"The security team is coming down!" Jax warned.
They sprinted toward the service stairs at the end of the basement.
They burst out through the back kitchen entrance into the rain.
Gunfire rang out behind them.
Bullets chipped the stone walls around their heads.

They dove into Jax's car just as the back window shattered.
Jax slammed his foot on the accelerator, tires screaming.
