Chapter 12 - Escape from the Deep
Evelyn dragged Jax's heavy body through the open grate.
They collapsed onto the cold stone floor of the basement.
Fresh air rushed into their lungs.
Jax coughed uncontrollably, gasping for breath.
"You... saved my life..." Jax panted.
"We aren't safe yet," Evelyn said, looking around.
They were in the basement archives of the estate.
Rows of filing cabinets and locked safes stretched into the darkness.
Evelyn noticed one specific safe was sitting completely open.
Inside, light shimmered off a small metal flash drive.
