Chapter 8 - THE TRAP CLOSES

In a dark, filthy basement on the edge of the city, Julian was shivering.
His hands were dirty, his clothes torn, and his boots soaked with muddy water.
He was hiding inside an abandoned warehouse, flinching at every small sound.
The door of the warehouse slowly creaked open.
Julian gasped, pulling a rusty metal pipe from the ground to defend himself.
"Who’s there?!" he screamed hysterically.
"Put that toy down, Julian," a cold, smooth voice echoed from the dark.
A man stepped out from the shadows, impeccably dressed in a tailored crimson suit.
It was Marcus Vane.
Julian immediately dropped the pipe and fell to his knees.
"Mr. Vane! Please! You have to help me!" Julian wept desperately.
"Victoria... she ruined everything! She took my company, she took my money!"
Marcus walked up to Julian and looked down at him with utter disgust.
"You foolish, arrogant boy," Marcus said softly.
"I didn't lose my money because of Victoria."
"I lost my money because you were too busy flirting with cheap women to notice your wife stealing my data."
Julian blinked in confusion. "What... what data?"
Marcus leaned down, his eyes cold and devoid of life.
"The drive, Julian," Marcus hissed.
"Where is the master drive?"
"I... I don't know!" Julian cried out in pure terror.
"I kept it in the vault! I swear it was in the vault!"
Marcus sighed and shook his head with disappointment.
"You really are useless," Marcus said.
He signaled to his guard standing behind him.

"Throw him in the trunk," Marcus ordered calmly.
"We will use him as bait to draw the girl out."
