Chapter 17 - THE SECOND GAME
Victoria stopped crying and wiped her eyes quickly.
She crawled over to the glass case and picked up the faded photograph.
She turned it over in her hands.
Embedded inside the wooden back of the frame was a tiny, high-tech micro-chip with a flashing green light.
A tiny digital voice speaker activated on the back of the frame.
"System activated," a robotic voice synthesized. "Biometric match confirmed: Victoria Vance."
Victoria’s eyes widened in astonishment.
"Who is this?" she whispered into the frame.
"I am the contingency program created by your biological father, Richard Vance," the voice replied clearly.
"If you are reading this, Arthur Vance has betrayed you, just as he betrayed me twenty years ago."
Victoria’s breath caught in her chest. "Can you open this vault door?"
"This vault was designed by Richard Vance before his death," the computer system answered.
"Arthur believes he controls this facility, but the underlying master code belongs to Richard."
"Override protocol initiating now."
With a loud clanking of internal gears, the emergency lights inside the vault flashed bright red.
The heavy steel locking bolts began to retract one by one.
"Oxygen levels restored. Security locks bypassed," the voice announced.
The massive steel door slowly slid open, revealing the empty hallway beyond.
Victoria stood up slowly, her shock turning into an icy, unstoppable fury.
She looked at her bloody hands, then gripped the photo tightly in her palm.
"Arthur thinks he’s flying away with fifty billion dollars," Victoria whispered with lethal calm.
"Where is his private jet taking off from?"
"Private Hangar 4, City Airport," the computer responded instantly. "Departure in twenty minutes."

"Set all Vance corporate accounts to total override," Victoria commanded, stepping out of the vault.
"It’s time to show Arthur how well he trained me."
