Chapter 4 - A DANGEROUS SECRET
With a swift motion, a guard snatched the tiara from Sophia’s head, pulling out clumps of hair with it.
Sophia screamed in pain, falling to her knees beside Julian.
The once-glorious wedding venue had transformed into a court of judgment.
Julian looked up at Victoria, his face bruised and smeared with dust from the floor.
"Victoria, please... we were married!" Julian pleaded, his voice cracking.
"We built a life together!"
"You threw me to the floor for another woman, Julian," Victoria replied softly.
"You watched your mother abuse me and you laughed."
"Your love was fake, but my revenge will be absolute."
Suddenly, Julian’s phone rang again.
It was an urgent call from his chief head of security.
Julian answered on speaker with trembling hands.
"Boss! We have a massive problem!" the voice panicked over the speaker.
"The secret vault in the basement of headquarters... it’s been breached!"
Julian’s face turned ghostly white, whiter than his dress shirt.
"What?!" Julian screamed, forgetting his current plight for a second.
"Who breached it?!"
"A group of heavily armed men using Vance corporate security codes!" the chief yelled back.
"They took the black ledger! The one containing the real records of the company's foreign deals!"
Julian slowly raised his head to look at Victoria.
A subtle, dangerous smile appeared on Victoria’s pale lips.
"Did you really think I spent three years in your house just being a dutiful wife, Julian?" Victoria asked smoothly.
Julian’s breath caught in his throat.
"You... you knew about the ledger?" he stammered.
"I found it six months ago," Victoria revealed, her voice dropping to a whisper.
"I knew you were using my money to launder funds for the underground syndicates."
"I was waiting for the right moment to destroy you completely."
"And today... you gave me the perfect stage."
