Chapter 10 - DOCK 14

Midnight arrived with thick fog rolling off the dark ocean waves.
Dock 14 was a desolate graveyard of rusted shipping containers and abandoned cranes.
A single spotlight illuminated the center of the open pier.
Julian was tied to a wooden chair right under the blinding light, bleeding from multiple cuts on his face.
Marcus Vane stood beside him, flanked by twenty heavily armed men.
The sound of footsteps echoed through the heavy fog.
A solitary figure walked out of the darkness.
It was Victoria.
She walked with complete confidence, her dark eyes fixed on Marcus.
She carried nothing in her hands.
"You actually came alone," Marcus sneered, looking around the fog cautiously.
"I told you I would," Victoria said, stopping ten paces away.
Julian looked up at her through his swollen eyes, tears pouring down his cheeks.
"Victoria... please save me! I'm sorry! I was wrong!" Julian wept pitifully.
"Shut your mouth, Julian," Victoria said without even looking at him.
Marcus stepped forward, raising a pistol and pointing it directly at Victoria’s chest.
"Where is the drive, girl?" Marcus demanded.
Victoria reached into her collar and pulled out a small, glowing pendant.
"It’s right here around my neck," she stated calmly.
"Hand it over, and I might let you leave here alive," Marcus threatened.
Victoria smiled, a sharp and brilliant expression in the dim light.
"You didn't check the dock’s power grid before you arrived, did you, Marcus?" she asked softly.
Marcus’s eyebrows furrowed in sudden anxiety.

"What are you talking about?" he demanded.
Victoria raised her left hand and snapped her fingers once.
