Chapter 7 - The Mansion Siege
The iron gates of the mansion were smashed open.
Nathan’s heart pounded against his ribs as he pulled into the driveway.
The grand front doors were standing wide open.
Thunder crashed loudly overhead, illuminating the dark entrance.
Nathan stepped inside, holding a heavy iron fireplace poker.
The marble foyer was quiet, but furniture was upturned everywhere.
Glass from broken chandeliers covered the floor like crushed ice.
Nathan moved silently toward the study room on the second floor.
He heard muffled sobbing coming from inside the master library.
"Leo?" Nathan whispered softly, approaching the doorway.
He stepped inside the room, his eyes scanning the shadows.
Leo was tied to a wooden chair in the middle of the room.
His mouth was covered with black duct tape.
Leo shook his head frantically, his eyes filled with absolute terror.
He was trying to warn his father.
Nathan stepped forward to untie him.
A sharp pressure suddenly pressed against the back of Nathan’s neck.
