Chapter 6 - The Broken Traitor

Nathan grabbed Mark by his collar and pinned him against a container.
"Where is Leo?!" Nathan raged, hitting him again.
"He’s not here, you idiot!" Mark laughed pathologically.
"This was just a distraction to pull you away from the city!"
Nathan’s blood ran completely cold once again.
"What do you mean?" Nathan asked, his voice shaking.
"While you were driving out here, Vanessa went back," Mark sneered.
"Back to where?" Nathan shouted.
"Back to the mansion, of course," Mark whispered maliciously.
"She knows where the physical gold bars are hidden."
"And she took the boy with her as a human shield!"
Nathan struck Mark hard, knocking him unconscious onto the pier.
He grabbed Mark's phone from the wet ground and ran back to his car.
He threw the vehicle into reverse, tires screeching against the asphalt.
He sped toward the mansion at dangerous speeds.
He dialed Chief Miller while navigating the slick highway roads.
"Chief, Vanessa is back at my mansion!" Nathan yelled.
"Send every tactical unit you have right now!"
"Nathan, wait for backup!" Chief Miller warned over the radio.
"She is armed and highly dangerous!"

"I'm not waiting for anyone," Nathan said grimly.
