Chapter 17 - Twin Venom
"Surprise, darling," the twin on the left purred mockingly.
"Meet my sister, Veronica," the twin on the right added maliciously.
"You could never tell us apart, could you?" Veronica sneered.
"One of us dined with you at fancy restaurants."
"The other one cleared out your corporate accounts behind your back."
Nathan tightened his grip on the heavy steel wrench in his hand.
"Where is the money?" Nathan demanded coldly.
"It’s already offshore, Nathan," Vanessa laughed cruel entertainment.
"In twenty minutes, a helicopter lands on the roof of this very hospital."
"And you are going to take the blame for everything."
Veronica pulled a small black remote control from her pocket.
"We placed explosive charges on the hospital's main oxygen tanks below us," she revealed.
"If you move one step closer, we detonate the basement."
"Hundreds of innocent patients will perish, and it will all be on your hands."
Nathan’s mind raced as he calculated his options.
He was facing two ruthless masterminds with a deadly bomb trigger.
Suddenly, a quiet metallic click echoed from the shadows behind the generators.
