Chapter 6 - Into the Abyss

The black briefcase plummeted toward the churning sea below.

Without a second thought, Eleanor rushed to the edge of the bridge.

Richard tackled Julian to the ground before he could fire the flare gun.

The heavy flare gun discharged, sending a brilliant white flare shooting into the night sky.

The flare illuminated a hidden speedboat waiting near the base of the cliffs.

Julian struggled violently beneath Richard's weight, digging his fingernails into Richard's face.

"You're too late, brother!" Julian spat, laughing through the pain.

"The real data was never in that briefcase!" Julian cackled.

"It was already uploaded to an automated server set to release at midnight!" Julian shouted.

Eleanor turned away from the railing, her eyes cold and calculating.

"He's lying, Richard," Eleanor said, stepping toward them.

"The briefcase was a decoy to draw out your security team," Eleanor added.

Suddenly, headlights appeared from both ends of the narrow bridge.

Four black SUVs surrounded them, blocking all possible escape routes.

Men in dark tactical gear stepped out, holding high-powered rifles.

Julian’s laughter ceased instantly as he looked at the figures surrounding them.

These were not Julian's men, nor were they Richard's security team.

The lead operative stepped forward, lowering his mask.
