Chapter 10 - Behind Iron Bars

The heavy steel door of the maximum-security cell slammed shut with a deafening thud.

Richard sat on the cold metal bench, his tuxedo ruined and covered in mud.

Hours passed in suffocating silence as the gravity of his downfall set in.

Everything he had built, his name, his fortune, and his legacy, was gone in a single night.

The small window on the cell door opened, revealing a guard's dark eyes.

"You have a visitor, Vance," the guard announced curtly.

The cell door unlocked, and Richard was led down a dimly lit hallway.

He was brought into a small visitation room divided by thick glass.

Sitting on the other side of the glass was Victoria, wearing a pristine grey prison jumpsuit.

She smirked wickedly as Richard sat down across from her.

"Enjoying your new suite, darling?" Victoria sneered through the small microphone.

"Did you set this up with Eleanor?" Richard asked, his voice low and dangerous.

Victoria laughed bitterly, tapping her acrylic nails on the glass counter.

"Eleanor isn't who you think she is, Richard," Victoria whispered leaning in close.

"She doesn't work for the government," Victoria revealed.

"She runs the Syndicate," Victoria whispered.
