Chapter 20 - The Silent Dawn
Julian plunged down into the endless mist below, his screams swallowed by the storm.
Richard pulled himself back over the broken window frame, gasping for breath.
Inside the ruined penthouse, Victoria lay unconscious near the broken server tower.
Eleanor stood over the central mainframe, the red override key inserted into the drive.
"If I turn this key, the entire Vance network will be permanently deleted," Eleanor said.
"The Syndicate, the fortune, the corporate empire, all of it disappears forever," Eleanor added.
Richard looked at his half-sister, bleeding, exhausted, and burdened by decades of secrets.
"Do it," Richard said softly, wiping blood from his forehead.
"We were never meant to hold this kind of power," Richard acknowledged.
Eleanor looked at Richard with a mixture of relief and sorrow, then turned the red key.
The server arrays hummed loudly before plunging into complete darkness.
Monitors across the globe went black simultaneously as the empire wiped itself from existence.
Sirens echoed far below in the city streets as morning light finally broke through the storm clouds.
Eleanor dropped the key onto the cold marble floor and walked toward the exit.
"Where will you go?" Richard asked, watching her leave.
Eleanor paused at the threshold, turning her head back slightly.

"To a place where the name Vance means absolutely nothing," Eleanor replied quietly.
She walked out into the quiet morning, leaving Richard alone in the empty, silent tower.
