Chapter 16 - Infiltration

Rain returned to the city, washing over the

sleek glass facade of the Vance Tower.

At the main entrance, an explosion rocked the lobby as Julian detonated a rigged utility truck.

Syndicate guards scrambled down the elevators to contain the chaos at ground level.

Meanwhile, fifty stories above the ground, Richard attached a high-tension cable to the skybridge.

He launched himself into the storm, sliding across the wire toward the penthouse balcony.

He shattered the glass door with his boots, rolling onto the polished marble floor of his former office.

The room was bathed in soft blue light from the massive server towers in the center.

Eleanor stood near the floor-to-ceiling windows, holding a crystal glass of scotch.

She did not turn around as Richard drew a sidearm from his coat.

"I knew you were too stubborn to stay in a cell, Richard," Eleanor said smoothly.

"Put your hands where I can see them, Eleanor," Richard commanded, stepping forward.

"Or what, Richard? You'll shoot me?" Eleanor asked quietly.
