Chapter 9 - Under the Hood
Arthur Vance grabbed the glass case containing the silver signet ring.
"You think money buys you everything, boy?!" Arthur snarled, pulling a hidden trigger under the podium.
A heavy iron gate dropped from the ceiling, separating Ethan from the stage.
Arthur sprinted toward the private exit behind the curtains.
Ethan reacted instantly, grabbing a heavy brass stanchion from the aisle.
He hurled it like a spear through the iron bars.
The stanchion jammed directly into the emergency exit's hydraulic mechanism.
The heavy door slammed shut and locked Arthur inside the narrow corridor.
Ethan turned back toward his car, pressing a button on his smartwatch.
The Porsche’s engine roared to life remotely, backing up violently to ram the iron gate.
BOOM!
The iron bars bent under the massive impact of the vehicle.
Ethan squeezed through the gap and marched down the dark corridor after Arthur.
He found Arthur cornered at the end of the hallway, holding a ticking mechanical device attached to the floor.

"If you take one more step, this entire building goes up in smoke!" Arthur threatened, his finger hovering over a red button.
"You really don't learn, do you?" Ethan said, taking another step forward.
