Chapter 10 - The Locked File
Arthur’s hand trembled over the trigger as Ethan stopped two feet away.
"Why are you so obsessed with this ring?!" Arthur screamed hysterically.
"It's not just a ring, Arthur," Ethan said softly.
"It contains the cryptographic key to the master registry."
Before Arthur could react, Ethan lunged forward, grabbing Arthur's wrist with an iron grip.
He twisted the man's arm downward, forcing him to drop the detonator.
Ethan caught the detonator with his left hand and disarmed the lead wire in a single movement.
Arthur collapsed to the floor, gasping for air, totally defeated.
Ethan leaned down and took the silver signet ring from Arthur’s weak grip.
He slid the ring onto his pinky finger and turned toward the exit.
As he walked out of the auction house, his phone began to ring.
He answered the call and brought the phone to his ear.
"Ethan... help me..." Victoria's voice wept through the speaker.
"Where are you?" Ethan asked coldly.
"They took me to the old port warehouse... they know who you really are..." she sobbed.
"And they have your mother's locked file."
