Chapter 17 - The Confession
The boardroom emptied rapidly as panic-stricken executives fled to save their remaining assets.
Only Victoria, her broken father Richard, and Ethan remained in the massive room.
Richard was kneeling by his chair, gasping for breath as his empire dissolved.
"Ethan... please... mercy..." Richard whimpered, holding his hands up in defeat.
"You showed no mercy to my father fifteen years ago," Ethan replied, staring down at him.
"You framed him for fraud, took his company, and left my family with nothing," Ethan added.
Victoria looked up at her father in sheer disbelief and horror.
"Father... is that true?" Victoria sobbed, her voice breaking.
"Did you build our entire life on a lie?!" she demanded.
Richard couldn't look his daughter in the eye.
He hung his head in silence, confirming every word.
Ethan pulled a thick black folder from his leather briefcase and tossed it onto the table.
