Chapter 6 - Betrayal at the Dealership

The pitch darkness of the basement apartment was suffocating.

Victoria’s heart hammered against her ribs as she fumbled for her phone light.

A quiet creak echoed from the top of the wooden stairs.

Slowly, heavy footsteps began descending into the room.

"Ethan?" Victoria called out, her voice trembling in the dark.

No answer came from the darkness.

Instead, the beam of a high-powered flashlight suddenly blinded her.

Two men dressed in sharp dark tactical gear stepped into the basement.

"The file finished downloading," one of them said into a shoulder radio.

"Get the girl," the second man ordered coldly.

Victoria backed away until her spine pressed against the cold metal server rack.

"Stay back! Ethan will be back any second!" she warned desperately.

The lead agent chuckled quietly under his breath.

"Director Ethan isn't coming back for you," the agent said with a mocking sneer.

"He's currently being arrested at the dealership for grand grand auto theft."

Victoria’s breath caught in her throat.

"What do you mean auto theft?!" she demanded.

"The Porsche you drove today wasn't his," the agent revealed with a cold smile.

"It belonged to the Vance family, and he fell right into our trap."
