Chapter 8 - The Silent Billionaire
Arthur Vance set his champagne glass down on a silver tray with a loud clatter.
"Security! Shoot this trespasser on sight!" Arthur roared, standing up.
Dozens of private guards drew their sidearms simultaneously.
Every red laser sight in the room pointed directly at Ethan’s chest.
Ethan didn't blink.
He reached into his inner suit pocket and pulled out a sleek silver tablet.
He tapped the screen three times.
Instantly, every phone in the room buzzed with an urgent priority notification.
The auctioneer looked down at his terminal, his face draining of all color.
"Wait! Stop!" the auctioneer screamed into his microphone.
"The entire Vance Corporation stock has just been liquidated!" the auctioneer gasped.
"Purchased by... Vanguard Global Logistics!"
Arthur Vance staggered backward, clutching the edge of his table.
"That's impossible! Vanguard is a bankrupt shell company!" Arthur yelled.
Ethan walked slowly up the stairs toward the auction stage.
The security guards lowered their weapons one by one, staring at Ethan in sheer awe.
