Chapter 19 - THE SHADOW FALLS
Marcus turned around and looked up toward the third-floor window of the pediatric ward.
A red laser sight was dotting directly onto the glass.
Before Marcus could scream a warning, a heavy high-caliber shot shattered the upper window.
Screams erupted from inside the hospital as smoke began pouring out of the building.
"Get down!" Marcus bellowed, tackling Leo and Sarah behind a concrete planter box.
Agent Carter pulled her sidearm and fired twice toward a nearby parking garage structure.
"They're already here!" Carter yelled over the sudden chaos.
A fleet of three black SUVs slammed through the hospital gates, blocking all exits.
Heavily armed men in tactical gear poured out of the vehicles, weapons raised.
"Secure the target!" the lead mercenary barked into his helmet radio.
Marcus grabbed a fallen security guard's weapon from the ground.
"Sarah, take Leo and Hope through the basement tunnels!" Marcus ordered frantically.
"I'm not leaving you again!" Leo cried out, tears welling in his eyes.
"You have to protect your sister, Leo!" Marcus shouted, looking him in the eyes.
"She needs you now more than ever! Go!"
Leo bit his lip, nodded bravely, and grabbed the stroller handle.
Sarah led Leo quickly toward the emergency side door of the hospital building.
Marcus and Agent Carter provided covering fire, keeping the mercenaries pinned down behind their SUVs.
"We can't hold them off forever!" Carter shouted, reloading her weapon.
"We just need to buy them enough time to reach the underground subway!" Marcus yelled back.
Suddenly, a massive man step out from the central SUV, wearing an iron face mask.

He held a heavy grenade launcher and pointed it directly at the hospital entrance.
"No!" Marcus screamed, lunging forward.
