Chapter 14 - A SACRIFICE IN THE RAIN

Before Vance could pull the trigger, a loud air horn blasted through the harbor.

The stolen police cruiser smashed through the dock gates at full speed.

The car slammed directly into the gangway structure, severing it from the pier.

Vance lost his balance and fell heavily onto the wooden deck of the drifting yacht.

The cruiser crashed into a pile of steel drums, its hood crumpling instantly.

"No!" Marcus screamed, dragging himself up despite his bleeding shoulder.

He stumbled toward the smoking wreck of the car.

The driver's side door was jammed shut.

Marcus kicked the window out and pulled Sarah from the driver seat.

She was conscious but bleeding from a deep gash on her forehead.

"Where's Leo?!" Marcus asked frantically, looking inside the smoking vehicle.

"He... he got out before I crashed..." Sarah gasped, pointing toward the drifting yacht.

Marcus turned around in pure horror.

Leo had jumped onto the lower deck of the drifting yacht just before it separated from the pier.

The child stood on the deck, soaked in rain, standing face-to-face with Vance.

"Leo!" Marcus bellowed, jumping into the freezing ocean water.

Marcus swam desperately against the current toward the moving boat.

On the deck, Vance pulled himself up, clutching his broken ribs.

He saw the young boy standing before him, holding a metal wrench in his shaking hands.

"You little rat," Vance growled, stepping toward the child.

"You ruined everything!"

Leo didn't back down; he raised the wrench, his hazel eyes burning with fierce determination.

"You killed my family," Leo said, his voice ringing loud over the storm.

"And now you're going to pay."
