Chapter 15 - SHOWDOWN ON THE DECK

Vance lunged forward, grabbing Leo by his collar and lifting him off his feet.

"I should have drowned you in that river years ago!" Vance snarled, raising his fist.

Leo swung the heavy metal wrench with all his force, striking Vance across his knee.

Vance screamed in agony, dropping the boy and collapsing onto his bad leg.

Marcus hauled himself over the side railing of the yacht, coughing up sea water.

"Vance! Get away from him!" Marcus yelled, raising his dripping gun.

Vance quickly grabbed Leo from behind, locking his arm around the boy's throat.

He pulled out a small pocket knife, pressing the blade against Leo's neck.

"Drop the gun, Marcus, or I cut his throat right now!" Vance threatened frantically.

Marcus stopped in his tracks, his heart hammering against his ribs.

"Let the boy go, Vance. Your fight is with me," Marcus pleaded, lowering his weapon slightly.

Leo looked at Marcus, refusing to show fear despite the blade touching his skin.

"Don't listen to him, Marcus!" Leo choked out. "Shoot him!"

"Shut up!" Vance yelled, tightening his grip on the child.

Rain beat down mercilessly as the three of them stood in a deadly standoff on the rocking deck.

Suddenly, the yacht slammed into a concrete harbor pylon with a violent jolt.

The sudden impact threw everyone off balance.

Vance slipped on the slick deck, losing his grip on Leo.

Leo rolled away toward the edge of the boat.

Marcus lunged forward, tackling Vance to the ground.

They wrestled brutally on the slick metal surface, punching and clawing for control of the weapon.

Vance managed to get on top, pressing his heavy hands down onto Marcus's throat.

Marcus's vision began to blur as air was cut off from his lungs.
