Chapter 7 - THE RATTLESNAKE'S NEST

Jax felt a surge of ice freeze through his veins as he heard Marcus's voice.
"It was you," Jax whispered, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the phone.
"You gave Victor our route."
"I had no choice, brother," Marcus replied smoothly, without a single trace of remorse.
"Victor offered me your seat at the head table. Why die for a child when you can rule an empire?"
"I trusted you with my family's lives, Marcus!" Jax snarled, his voice a low, terrifying growl.
"And that was your fatal mistake," Marcus mocked coldly.
"You soft-hearted fool. You let love ruin you. The syndicate doesn't need a father; it needs a monster."
"Where is Elena?" Jax demanded, shifting the topic immediately.
"Elena is locked in the basement cellar of the main manor," Marcus answered carelessly.
"Victor is preparing to marry her off to the cartel leaders in Mexico to seal a new pipeline deal."
Jax gasped, a fresh wave of rage washing over him.
"She will never agree to that!" Jax shouted.
"She doesn't have a choice," Marcus chuckled darkly.
"Victor told her that if she refuses, he will send men to hunt down little Lily and deliver her shoe to Elena's cell."
Jax’s vision turned red with unadulterated fury.
"If you touch a single hair on my daughter's head, Marcus, I will tear you apart piece by piece," Jax promised in a deadly whisper.
"You're in no position to make threats, Jax," Marcus sneered.
"We know you're somewhere in the northern woods. My search teams are closing in on your location right now."
"Enjoy your remaining hours with your daughter, brother."
The call disconnected with a sharp click.
Jax slowly lowered the phone, his teeth grinding together in pure rage.
He looked over at Lily, who was fast asleep on the sofa, breathing peacefully.
They were trapped, surrounded, and running out of time.
If he stayed, they would be hunted down within hours.
If he ran with Lily, they would be pursued forever.

There was only one insane option left.
He had to attack the Vance manor directly and cut off the snake's head himself.
