Chapter 13 - REBELLION IN THE CELLAR

With Victor's attention shattered by the sudden reversal, Jax launched himself upward from his knees.

He swung his cuffed hands with brutal momentum, driving the heavy steel chain straight into the throat of the guard on his left.

The guard choked violently, dropping to the floor.

Jax spun around, driving a brutal headbutt into the nose of the second guard, shattering the man's facial bones.

Before the third mercenary could raise his assault rifle, Jax grabbed the weapon's barrel, twisted it upward, and forced the guard's finger onto the trigger.

RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT!

A burst of gunfire tore through the ceiling, shattering the corridor's overhead lights and plunging the hallway into pitch darkness.

Chaos erupted in the pitch-black basement.

Shouts and blind gunfire echoed off the concrete walls.

Jax dropped to the floor, using the darkness to his advantage.

He grabbed the dead guard's combat knife from its belt sheath and jammed the blade into the keyhole of his handcuffs.

With a sharp, forceful twist, the internal mechanism snapped open, freeing his wrists.

Jax scrambled through the dark, grabbing an automatic rifle off the floor.

"Elena, stay down!" Jax yelled over the roar of gunfire.

He fired three precise shots in the direction of the exit door, dropping two mercenaries who were trying to flee.

Victor’s panicked voice rang out in the gloom.

"Kill him! Kill him now!" Victor shrieked, scrambling toward the heavy steel exit door.

Jax sprinted through the shadows, aiming at Victor’s leg.

BANG!

Victor shrieked in agony as the bullet hit his knee, sending him crashing onto the hard concrete floor.

Jax walked up to the fallen syndicate boss, placing the warm barrel of his rifle directly against Victor’s forehead.

The remaining guards held their fire, terrified that a single stray bullet would kill their leader.

"Call off Marcus," Jax growled, his voice trembling with sheer, unadulterated vengeance.

"Call him off right now, or I'll splatter your brains across this cellar."

May you like

Victor panted heavily, clutching his bleeding knee, his eyes wide with genuine terror for the first time in his life.

"Marcus..." Victor gasped into his shoulder radio. "Stand down... abort the pursuit!"
