Chapter 11 - THE DEVIL’S CHOICE

Jax stood frozen in the dim subterranean corridor, the gun in his hands trembling slightly for the first time in his life.

The live feed on the small monitor showed his daughter sitting on the edge of the cabin sofa, trembling as the steel barrel pressed against her temple.

Elena choked on a sob, covering her mouth with both hands as she stared at the screen in pure horrr.

"Drop the weapon, Jax," Marcus’s voice crackled through the intercom, laced with sickening satisfaction.

"You have five seconds before I order him to pull the trigger."

Jax slowly lowered the barrel of his rifle.

He unclasped his tactical vest and let it hit the concrete floor with a heavy thud.

"Don't do this to her, Marcus," Jax said, his voice terrifyingly calm. "She's an innocent child."

"Innocence is a luxury you lost the day you crossed Victor Vance," Marcus replied coldly.

The heavy steel door at the end of the corridor clicked and slowly swung open.

Four heavily armed mercenaries stepped into the hallway, their assault rifles aimed directly at Jax’s chest.

Behind them walked Victor Vance, his expensive white cane tapping rhythmically against the floor.

Victor smiled, a grotesque, victorious smirk stretching across his aged face.

"You always were too sentimental, Jax," Victor said, pausing a few paces away.

"It made you predictable."

"Release Lily," Jax demanded, looking Victor dead in the eye. "You have me. Let the child go."

Victor gestured to his men, who immediately rushed forward and slammed Jax onto his knees, forcing his arms behind his back.

They snapped heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists.

Elena tried to throw herself over Jax to protect him, but a guard grabbed her by her hair and dragged her backward into the cell.

"I will make you a deal, Jax," Victor murmured, stepping closer and leaning down to look into Jax’s eyes.

"You will sign the confession taking full responsibility for the syndicate's illegal offshore accounts."

"If you take the fall and face life in prison, I will let the child live."

Jax stared at Victor, his jaw clenching so hard his teeth groaned under the pressure.

"And if I refuse?" Jax asked quietly.

May you like

Victor chuckled softly, pulling out his phone.

"If you refuse, I press this button, and your daughter dies live on that screen right now."
