Chapter 17 - The Final Confession
Within hours, Harrison was locked inside an interrogation room at central headquarters.
Broken and facing life imprisonment, he began spilling every secret of the syndicate.
"Victoria didn't act alone when she targeted Clara's mother years ago," Harrison confessed behind the glass.
"We forged the land titles together to take over the Vance estate."
"When Clara applied as a maid, Victoria recognized her face immediately."
"That's why she tormented her every single day—to force her to quit before she discovered the truth."
Julian and Clara stood behind the two-way mirror, listening to every word.
Clara felt tears of validation swelling in her eyes.
"My mother wasn't crazy," Clara whispered to herself softly.
"She was telling the truth the whole time."
Julian turned to Clara and placed a gentle hand on her cheek.
"I am so sorry for everything my family's name caused you, Clara," Julian said softly.
"You don't need to apologize for their sins, Julian," Clara replied gently, holding his hand against her cheek.
"You stood by me when everyone else treated me like nothing."
"You gave me back my dignity."
