Chapter 14 - The Traitor Among Friends
The judge slammed his gavel down one final time.
"I have seen enough evidence," the judge declared firmly.
"Victoria Vance is hereby denied all bail and remanded to state custody pending trial."
"Full legal guardianship of Leo Vance remains strictly with Julian Vance."
Cheers erupted from the public gallery as police officers dragged a screaming Victoria out of the room.
Julian let out a long, exhausted sigh of relief.
He turned to Clara and took both of her hands in his.
"It's finally over, Clara," Julian said with a gentle smile.
Suddenly, Julian’s chief security officer rushed up to the table, his face pale with panic.
He leaned down and whispered directly into Julian's ear.
"Sir... Jax was just attacked outside the holding cell downtown."
Julian’s smile instantly vanished.
"Who attacked him?" Julian demanded sternly.
"It wasn't Victoria's crew, sir," the security chief whispered grimly.
"It was your personal family attorney... Mr. Harrison."
Julian felt the blood run cold in his veins.
