Chapter 18 - THE SHOWDOWN AT THE PENTHOUSE

The penthouse was a massive, ultra-luxurious room with floor-to-ceiling glass walls offering a panoramic view of the storm-drenched city.
In the center of the room, Raymond was strapped to an upright steel medical gurney.
An intravenous IV line was attached to his arm, running to a digital fluid pump.
Victor Sterling stood beside the gurney, holding a remote control device.
He turned around slowly, a dark, terrifying smile spreading across his pale face.
"Welcome to the top of the world, children," Victor said smoothly.
"You're just in time for the final act."
"Step away from him, Victor!" Leo yelled, aiming the pistol at Victor's chest with both hands.
Victor laughed, a cold, mocking sound.
"You won't shoot me, boy," Victor sneered, taking a slow step toward Leo.
"You don't have it in you. You're just a weak, broken street orphan like your pathetic father."
"I am Arthur Sterling's son!" Leo roared, his finger tightening on the trigger.
"And you are a murderer!"
"Shoot him, Leo!" Lily screamed. "He killed my mother!"
Victor pressed a red button on his remote control.
The digital fluid pump beside Raymond began to beep rapidly, pushing a bright blue liquid into Raymond's veins.
Raymond groaned in agony, his body straining violently against the leather straps.

"In thirty seconds, that compound will paralyze his respiratory system forever," Victor said calmly.
"Drop the gun, Leo... or watch your uncle die in front of your eyes."
