Chapter 13 - THE INFILTRATION
The bunker roof caved in with a deafening roar as armed strike teams dropped down through the dust.
Eleanor fired two heavy rounds into the air, driving the soldiers back into the smoke.
"Go! Move!" she screamed, shoving Leo and Lily into a narrow emergency exit chute.
Leo grabbed Lily's arm, dragging her into the dark tunnel as automatic weapon fire ripped through the room behind them.
They crawled furiously through the dark dirt pipe until they burst out into an old city sewer drain.
They tumbled onto the concrete ledge of the wet, smelly sewer network.
Behind them, the sounds of gunshots slowly faded into terrifying silence.
"Did Eleanor... make it?" Lily asked, her voice cracking as she held her chest.
"We can't go back," Leo said, his eyes hardening with a desperate determination he had never felt before.
"If we keep running, they will kill everyone who tries to help us."
"We have to end this tonight."
Lily looked at him, wiping soot and mud from her forehead.
"How? We're just two kids against an army."
"Your father took my parents, he took your mother, and now he has your uncle," Leo said, his hands clenching into tight fists.
"Eleanor said my bio-metrics can open the vault at the main tower downtown."
"If I open that vault, the whole world sees what he is."
"The main Sterling Tower is heavily guarded," Lily pointed out. "We can't just walk in."
"We aren't walking in through the front door," Leo replied, looking up at a heavy iron ladder leading up to a street grate.
"We're going to use the maintenance tunnels under the building."
"You know the floor plan, Lily. You lived there."

Lily looked into Leo's eyes and saw no fear left—only an iron resolve.
"Alright," Lily agreed softly. "Let's burn his empire down."
