Chapter 13 - THE DAUGHTER NO ONE KNEW

Daniel spent the entire night awake.

The photograph sat on the table.

Vanessa.

His father.

A secret family.

A hidden daughter.

Everything he knew about his life had been built on missing pieces.

“Why didn’t my father tell me?”

Ethan looked at him.

“Because Richard Harrison spent his entire life hiding his mistakes.”

Amy watched Daniel carefully.

For the first time, she saw him not as a billionaire.

Not as her husband.

But as a son who was discovering his father was not the hero he believed.

Vanessa finally appeared.

Not hiding.

Not pretending.

She walked into Harrison Tower like she owned it.

Because in her mind…

she did.

Daniel was waiting.

“You knew.”

Vanessa smiled.

“Yes.”

“You knew you were my sister.”

“Yes.”

“And you got close to me anyway.”

Her smile faded.

“You think I wanted this?”

Daniel stared.

“You ruined my marriage.”

Vanessa laughed.

“No.”

She stepped closer.

“You ruined your marriage.”

The words hit him.

Because part of him knew she was right.

“You had everything.”

Vanessa’s voice became colder.

“The name.”

“The money.”

“The company.”

“The respect.”

She pointed at him.

“And I had nothing.”

Daniel shook his head.

“That wasn’t my choice.”

“No.”

She smiled bitterly.

“It was Dad’s.”

Vanessa explained everything.

Richard Harrison had hidden her existence because he feared losing his reputation.

He gave Daniel the empire.

He gave Daniel the family name.

He gave Daniel everything.

And left Vanessa with nothing.

“So you destroyed my life?”

Vanessa looked at him.

“I wanted you to feel what it was like to lose something.”

Daniel stepped back.

“You used Amy.”

Vanessa became quiet.

“Yes.”

“And the baby?”

A small change crossed her face.

Regret.

For the first time.

“I never wanted the baby hurt.”

Daniel’s voice became cold.

“But you hurt the mother.”

Then security rushed into the room.

“Mr. Harrison!”

Daniel turned.

“What happened?”

The guard looked nervous.

“There’s someone outside.”

“Who?”

The guard swallowed.

“Mrs. Harrison.”

Daniel froze.

“Which one?”

The guard looked confused.

“The older Mrs. Harrison.”

Margaret.

Daniel walked outside.

His mother stood there.

Holding a box.

“I came to give you something.”

Daniel looked at her.

“What?”

Margaret opened the box.

Inside was another ring.

Not Amy’s.

A different one.

One Daniel had never seen.

“This belonged to Vanessa’s mother.”

Daniel frowned.

“Why are you giving it to me?”

Margaret looked toward the building.

“Because Vanessa was never the biggest threat.”

Daniel’s face changed.

“What are you saying?”

Margaret whispered:

“Someone else has been controlling her.”

A cold silence followed.

“Who?”

Margaret looked at Daniel.

And said the name that made his blood freeze.

“Your father.”

Daniel stared.

“That’s impossible.”

Margaret shook her head.

“No.”

Her voice broke.
