Chapter 6 - The Poisoned Trap

The following morning, bright sunlight streamed ruthlessly into the penthouse study.
Evelyn sat at the long breakfast table, mechanically reviewing a stack of complex corporate filings.
Her encrypted mobile phone suddenly began to vibrate violently across the dark wood surface.
She hesitated for a long moment, staring at the completely unknown caller identity on the screen.
"Hello?" Evelyn asked, her voice cautious and filled with immediate tension.
"Evelyn... please... you have to help me..." a incredibly faint, gasping voice pleaded from the speaker.
It was the weak, struggling voice of her younger brother, Leo.
Evelyn instantly stood up from her chair, knocking her silver fork onto the floor with a loud clang.
"Leo?! What is happening to you?! Where are you?!" she screamed into the phone frantically.
"They... they dragged me straight out of my hospital recovery room..." Leo gasped heavily for air.
"Two dangerous men in heavy black suits forced me into an unmarked medical van..."
A sharp, hauntingly familiar male voice roughly snatched control of the active phone line.
"Good morning to my beautiful, traitorous wife," Julian’s sinister voice chuckled darkness through the speaker.
Evelyn felt her entire heart plummet straight into a icy abyss of terror.
"Julian! What on earth have you done to my helpless brother?!" she shrieked hysterically.
"I have transported your precious little brother to an unregistered private clinic deep in the mountains," Julian said smoothly.
"If you ever want to see his lungs pump another oxygen molecule, you will listen to me very carefully."
"Drive out to the old abandoned harbor warehouse located at Pier 9 completely by yourself in two hours."

"If my lookout spotters catch even a single glimpse of your powerful Uncle Harrison, Leo's oxygen line gets cut instantly."
The phone line abruptly went dead, leaving behind a cold, terrifying silence.
