Chapter 4 - The Illusory Kingdom
Julian picked up the leather folder with a sneering, highly disdainful look on his arrogant face.
He aggressively flipped open the cover to the very first legal page.
The arrogant expression on his face instantly withered away, replaced by an absolute, freezing horror.
"What... what kind of joke is this?" Julian stammered out, his complexion turning ghost-white.
"That is the original, master property deed to the entire Vance Estate," Harrison stated with flat precision.
"The document you spent three days torturing Evelyn to sign was nothing more than an invalid decoy."
"I owned every single brick of that estate decades before your father even learned how to lie."
"And more importantly, I own the holding company that currently finances your father's entire firm."
Julian’s breath hitched violently in his chest, his lungs refusing to take in oxygen.
"You're... you're lying through your teeth!" Julian shrieked, backing away step by step.
"My father is the controlling Chairman and Chief Executive of Apex Corporation!"
"Apex Corporation was bought out in full by Vance Holdings three hours ago," Harrison revealed dryly.
"I personally authorized the hostile takeover while you were busy chasing Evelyn in the rain."
Julian stumbled backward awkwardly, his heels catching on the heavy rug as he dropped the folder.
"You... you destroyed my father's entire life's work in three short hours?!" Julian gasped out.
"No," Harrison corrected him, taking a slow, deliberate step forward into the light.
"I ruined your father's life because he failed to raise a proper son, creating a coward who beats women."
Julian gritted his teeth until they creaked, his panicked eyes flashing with a sudden, desperate venom.
"You think you can play god with me?!" Julian screamed, hastily reaching into his inner pocket for his phone.
"I will call the federal authorities right now and report that you have abducted my wife!"
"I will tell the press and the police that you are holding her against her will under distress!"
Harrison slowly reached into his inner vest pocket and pulled out a sleek, metallic voice recorder.
He casually pressed the black play button on the side.
Julian’s own harsh, unrefined voice immediately reverberated through the grand study with terrifying clarity.

"If you don't sign these transfer papers right now, Evelyn, I will personally pull the plug on your brother!"
Julian froze dead in his tracks, total, paralyzing horror seizing every muscle in his body.
