Chapter 19 - The Last Transmission

"00 MINUTES 20 SECONDS."
Evelyn raised her revolver, but Victoria didn't dodge.
Instead, Victoria threw her tactical knife directly into the primary power junction beneath the holographic console.
SPARK!
The glass console exploded into blue sparks, throwing Evelyn backward off her feet.
Vance cursed loudly, lunging for the manual terminal switch to force the upload through.
Victoria tackled Vance across the glass floor, both of them slamming against the perimeter window.
The glass cracked under the force of the impact, exposing them to the roaring gale and torrential rain outside.
Vance drew a combat dagger from his boot, slashing across Victoria's vest.
"You're fighting for a ghost world, Victoria!" Vance screamed over the wind.
"The system doesn't need soldiers anymore—it needs control!"
He pressed the dagger down toward her throat, his military weight pinning her against the cracking glass.
"00 MINUTES 05 SECONDS."
Behind him, Leo scrambled onto the platform, grabbing Evelyn's fallen revolver from the floor.

"Get away from her!" Leo yelled, firing three wild shots into the ceiling setup.
The shattered glass overhead gave way, cascading down like a curtain of diamond shards.
