Chapter 11 - Shattered Realities

Victoria stared at the screen, her breath catching in her throat.
The woman on the video feed turned her head slightly toward the camera.
Her features were a flawless, terrifying duplicate of Victoria’s own face.
"A clone?" Victoria whispered, her hands trembling as she held her firearm.
"Not a clone, Commander," Evelyn’s voice chimed through the earpiece with sickening delight.
"A biological double, surgically perfected and memory-synced."
"Operation Sundown was never a military offensive—it was a harvesting mission."
"We needed your combat data, your brain patterns, and your physical blueprint to create the ultimate loyal asset."
Victoria felt a cold void open up inside her chest.
Every battle she had fought, every sacrifice she had made, had been cataloged to build her replacement.
"And my crew?" Victoria asked, her voice dangerously quiet.
"They weren't bought off with money, Victoria," Evelyn laughed softly.
"They knew the moment they saw her."
"They chose the version of you that doesn't ask questions."
Victoria’s knuckles turned white around the grip of her pistol.
She didn't care about the conspiracy anymore.
She didn't care about her stolen life.
She only cared about the bruised young man tied to the chair inside that room.
"Open the door, Evelyn," Victoria said, her tone devoid of all human emotion.

"With pleasure," Evelyn replied.
The heavy hydraulic locks hissed, and the steel door swung slowly inward.
