Chapter 9 - Psychological Warfare

The delivery van tore through the rainy city streets, heading toward an abandoned industrial warehouse.

Meanwhile, inside the penthouse apartment of the Vance Estate, Sarah sat shivering near a fireplace.

Eleanor Vance stood beside her daughter, pouring a glass of amber liquid with steady, calm hands.

"He was always unstable, Sarah," Eleanor said softly, handing her daughter the crystal glass.

"I tried to protect you from him, but you insisted on marrying a common security guard," Eleanor added smoothly.

"He killed a man in his own living room, mother," Sarah sobbed, her hands shaking uncontrollably.

"He looked into my eyes yesterday and lied to my face," she added, wiping a tear from her cheek.

Eleanor placed a gentle, comforting hand on Sarah's trembling shoulder.

"He was using you to gain access to my private network credentials," Eleanor lied with absolute conviction.

"He sold our corporate security codes to a dangerous criminal syndicate," Eleanor added, her voice full of sorrow.

Sarah looked up into her mother's stern, elegant face, searching for any sign of deception.

"What am I supposed to do now?" Sarah asked, her voice hollow and broken.

Eleanor pulled a small silver tracker device from her pocket and placed it on the glass coffee table.

"He will come back for you, Sarah," Eleanor said, her eyes narrowing with cold intention.

"When he does, you press this button, and our security forces will end this nightmare forever," Eleanor commanded.

Sarah stared at the small silver device, feeling her heart shatter into cold pieces.

She picked up the tracker with a trembling hand, nodding her head slowly in agreement.

Eleanor smiled softly, turning her back to look out over the glowing city skyline.

She knew Marcus would do anything to save Sarah, and that made Sarah the perfect trap.
