Chapter 19 - The Final Gambit

Marcus carried Eleanor through the smoke-choked emergency stairwell, her blood warm against his shoulder.
Down in the lower garage, Maya sat behind the wheel of the idling armored van, her face illuminated by emergency lights.
Sarah rushed out from the passenger seat, gasping in horror as she saw her mother's pale, blood-stained frame.
"Mother! Oh God, no!" Sarah screamed, helping Marcus lay Eleanor gently onto the rear bench.
"She's still breathing, Sarah, but we have to get her to a surgeon now!" Marcus yelled over the roaring engines.
"We can't go to a hospital," Maya warned, throwing the van into reverse. "Arthur's loyalists have barricaded every medical center in the city."
"Then we take over the city's main broadcast center instead," Marcus declared, holding up Arthur's master copy drive.
"If we broadcast this data live across every news network simultaneously, they can't hide anymore," he added.
Maya slammed her foot on the accelerator, sending the armored van crashing through the garage exit gates.
Twenty minutes later, the van breached the underground loading bay of the Federal Communications Building.
Marcus and Sarah rushed into the central control room, plugging the master drive directly into the main satellite relay.
A progress bar flashed across forty broadcast monitors simultaneously: UPLOADING VAULT 7 EVIDENCE TO ALL PUBLIC FEEDS.
Eleanor opened her eyes slowly from the floor mat, reaching out a cold, trembling hand toward Sarah.
"Sarah... forgive me..." Eleanor whispered, her voice fading to a fragile thread.
"I love you, Mother... stay with me, please!" Sarah sobbed, pressing Eleanor's hand against her tear-stained cheek.
The upload hit one hundred percent, and instantly, every TV screen in the country lit up with Arthur's secret ledger.
Names, payoffs, orders, and illegal surveillance files spilled across millions of screens worldwide in real time.

Outside, the sirens faded as federal tactical units surrounded the building to take down the remaining syndicate operatives.
Eleanor's hand slipped slowly from Sarah's grip, her eyes closing peacefully as a faint, bitter smile touched her lips.
