Chapter 20 - A NEW DAWN

The storm had finally passed, leaving behind a clear sky as the morning sun broke over the city skyline.
Warm golden sunlight streamed through the high glass windows of the hospital recovery room.
The steady, rhythmic beep of the heart monitor filled the quiet space with a soothing sound.
Mark sat in a chair beside the bed, holding Sarah’s hand tightly in both of his own.
His clothes were torn, his face was bruised and cut, but his eyes were filled with profound relief.
On the bed, Sarah slowly opened her eyes, blinking softly against the bright morning light.
The healthy, warm color had returned to her cheeks, and her lips were no longer blue.
She looked down at her hand wrapped in Mark's, then turned her head to look into his eyes.
"Mark...?" Sarah whispered weakly, her voice raspy but clear.
Mark let out a heavy breath, tears spilling over his cheeks as a brilliant smile broke across his bruised face.
He leaned forward, pressing a soft, long kiss against her forehead.
"I'm right here, Sarah," Mark murmured, holding her hand closer to his heart.
"You're safe."
"The antidote worked."
Sarah closed her eyes for a moment, letting the warmth of his words wash over her.
"Leo... where is Leo?" she asked anxiously, trying to sit up slightly.
"He's right here, mama," a deep, warm voice answered from the doorway.
Jax walked slowly into the room, holding the toddler safely in his massive arms.
Leo giggled happily, reaching his tiny hands toward Sarah the moment he saw her.
"Mama!" Leo squeaked, his small voice filling the room with pure joy.
Jax gently set the boy down on the edge of the bed beside Sarah.
Sarah pulled her son into a tight, emotional embrace, burying her face in his soft curly hair while weeping tears of pure happiness.
Mark stood up, placing his arm around Sarah and Leo, holding his entire family close.
"What happened to Eleanor and Julian?" Sarah asked softly, looking up at Mark.
Mark looked out the window at the city below, his expression turning calm and untroubled.
"The police processed the real will this morning," Mark explained.
"The court officially recognized father's original wishes."
"The entire Vance estate, the holdings, and the main trust fund now belong to Leo."
"Mother and Julian are facing multiple federal charges—attempted murder, extortion, and forgery."
"They will spend the rest of their natural lives behind bars."
"And Uncle Victor's facility has been completely shut down by federal authorities."
Jax leaned against the doorframe, a rare, genuine smile touching his weathered face as he tossed a set of brass keys onto the bedside table.
"So, boss," Jax said, nodding toward the window. "What are you going to do with all that legacy money now?"
Mark looked down at Sarah, who was smiling up at him with unshakeable love and peace.
He reached out and picked up the keys, slipping them into his pocket.
"We are giving the old mansion to a children's medical charity," Mark said firmly.
"And we are moving far away from this city."
May you like
"We're going to build a real home," Mark whispered, wrapping his arm around Sarah and pulling Leo close.
"Where no one will ever hurt us again."
