Chapter 20 - A New Dawn
Chloe's breath caught in her throat as Julian opened the velvet box.
Inside sat an exquisite ring featuring a brilliant sapphire surrounded by diamonds.
"Julian... what is this?" Chloe whispered, her eyes wide.
Julian took the ring out and held her right hand gently in his.
"This isn't a proposal—not yet," Julian said with a genuine, tender smile.
"This is a promise."
"A promise that from this day forward, you are family."
"You are no longer fighting alone."
"We build our future together—for Clara, for Lily, and for us."
Chloe felt warm tears of joy streaming down her cheeks.
"I accept your promise, Julian Sterling," Chloe whispered softly.
Julian slipped the sapphire ring onto her finger, then leaned down and kissed her softly on the lips under the moonlight.
Far below, the city lights flickered like a million stars.
